Saturday, October 10, 2009 Los Altos Hounds Hunt Clinic with Lee Webster
Get ready to join the field and enjoy a day in the saddle at the Los Altos
Hounds Hunting Essentials clinic in Nicasio on Saturday, October 10, 2009.
Clinic will begin at 11AM sharp and conclude at 1PM. Please bring a dish to
share for the potluck afterwards. The cost is $50 for adult non-members and
$25 for Pony Club and non-members under the age of 18. Free to current
members of LAH!
The day will include a two hour mounted session led by Lee Webster,
(http://www.bluechipstables.com/about.html) followed by a friendly potluck
with a question and answer session. No previous hunting experience is
necessary. This is a good opportunity to work on your cross country
position and control. Hunting etiquette, turnout, safety, horsemanship and
survival skills will be addressed. This clinic is geared towards newcomers
to the hunt field and those who would like to get their horses out in a
controlled group activity that simulates the hunting experience. Jumping is
optional and is not the focus of this clinic.

Saturday October 31, 2009 - LAH Hunter Pace at The Horse Park at Woodside
Please join us for the Los Altos Hounds Hunter Pace on Saturday, October 31,
2009, at the Horse Park at Woodside.
The hunter pace event is open to all; you don't have to be a member of the
Los Altos Hounds to participate, and we have classes for jumpers and
non-jumpers. Pony Club members and juniors are very welcome; we encourage
you to attend.
Hunter Pace Events are a tradition in foxhunt clubs all over the world. The
idea behind a hunter pace is to try to match the various speeds of travel
used during an actual foxhunt. Today, we measure the distance and use a
pre-set speed, thereby producing optimum times in which a particular course
should be ridden. Closest to the optimum time wins the class, whether over
or under the time.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SIGNED RELEASE FOR BOTH LOS ALTOS HOUNDS AND FOR THE HORSE
PARK AT WOODSIDE.

Wednesday, August 4, 2010 to Tuesday August 10, 2010 Seventh Annual Los Altos Hounds Camping Adventure and Trail Ride at Jack Brook Horse Camp
Yes, we have 2010 scheduled. Put this on your calendars. Come on
in on Wednesday afternoon, leave on Tuesday morning.
Come enjoy camping and riding at the magnificent Jack Brook Horse
Camp in Sam MacDonald Park. It is only 15 miles from Woodside, near La Honda and Pescadero.
You will have a great time with your hunting friends.
Non-members of Los Altos Hounds: this is a great opportunity to get acquainted
with some of the members and staff and find out more about our sport. Bring your
horse, camping gear, family, friends and your preferred beverage. The
caterer will be serving meals Thursday dinner to Sunday lunch. Outside
that you are on your own. Hunt members don't miss out on a weekend of conditioning
and good times before hunt season. Details to follow next year.
