What is a Hunter Pace?
A hunter pace is a low-key competitive event derived from foxhunting. Learn or improve horse/rider cross-country timing and jumping skills in a supportive environment. A Beginner Novice and Novice course will be flagged, with timers at the start and finish. Riders go on the course in pairs for non-jumping (first class), one horse jumping (intro pairs) and pairs jumping (several classes, faster pace). Optimum times are calculated for the course, and the rider tries to match the pace without a watch. A fit horse/rider can generally compete in 4 to 5 classes at one event.
Compete for ribbons, or just ride for the experience. Beginners are encouraged to join and ask for support during their rounds. It's a fun day for all.
Each Hunter Pace event may have different classes depending on the venue and conditions.
