Membership Information

Dear Friends of LAH,

Thank you for your continued support of Los Altos Hounds. We have already started autumn hound training, and it's only just over a month to Opening Meet on Nov 1.

If you haven't joined LAH yet, we would like to encourage you to do that ASAP. Please send your check to Terrie Scott, LAH Treasurer, 639 Edgewood Road, Redwood City, CA 94062. The 2009/2010 dues rates are attached below.

We warmly welcome and encourage new guests to try our sport. This season the daily adult guest cap fee is $100. The concept is that it is a "taster" for our sport to determine if the guest and their horse like it. We invite guests to cap twice and after that we try to encourage them to join. You may join as a Supporting Member at $650, which entitles you to three caps per season. Or preferably, you can become a full member and hunt unlimited times for an introductory price of $1,500 in the first season. Hound training meets, that is, before the Opening Meet on November 1, have a $50 cap and do not count towards cap limits.

We also actively encourage juniors and Pony Clubbers to come hunting as they are the future of our sport. There is no restriction on the number of times they can hunt while they are under 18 years of age, and their capping fee is only $50, or $25 during hound training. Juniors can also become members for $400 and work towards earning their hunt buttons.

There are other benefits of LAH membership, too. All members are invited to all of our social parties and events and receive a discount on entry fees for Hunter Paces, plus they get to take home our wonderful trophies. The next Hunter Pace is October 31 at the horse Park in Woodside. If you don't ride, why not become a social member of LAH for only $350 and get a free ticket to the hunt ball and all the other social benefits?

Please contact Kevin Arnold at Membership Information if you would like him to mail an invitation to join to you or one of your friends.

Remember, from November through March, we hunt two to three days a week: every Wednesday and Saturday and/or Sunday.

The hunt typically meets at 10 a.m., but hound training usually starts earlier due to heat.

If you want to attend a hunt please reply and we will send you meet details.

We encourage newcomers to attend the hunt clinic in Marin County on October 10 to learn more about safety and procedure in the hunt field. It's also a good chance to see how your horse will do in a big group and to meet some members!
